Sample Talking Points

- There is an unjust divide in our Aloha State which affects the civil rights of American citizens who reside in Hawaii.

- In Hawaii, and throughout the United States, we and other tax-paying, hard-working citizens are denied all benefits of federal marriage laws.

- In Hawaii, the GLBT community is also denied all equal benefits of state marriage laws, despite being the first state in America to have a reciprocal beneficiaries (RB) law.

- As citizens of the worldwide leader of democracy today, I demand justice and equality in America. This begins at home in Hawaii. I endorse civil unions in Hawaii and urge you to do everything possible to support legislation which will recognize marriages, domestic partnerships and civil unions performed elsewhere, too.
