Floor Amendment 16 confirms a $,1000 cap on corporate monies flowing from treasuries and into candidate's campaigns. Earlier versions of HB 128 raised the cap to 25K and even 50K, which would have made Hawaii the first state in U.S. history to raise these levels. Currently, 21 states and the federal government BAN these types of corporate contributions. Floor Amendment 16 confirms the $1,000 cap language, leaving no room for ambiguity in the current law (because the current $1,000 cap is written awkwardly, it is pending in a court case).
